Last month, a Delhi court refused to stay the release of the film Nyaay: The Justice, based on the life of the actor.
Reacting to the court’s order rejecting the plea of Sushant’s family, lawyer Ashok Saraogi representing the producers said, “Sushant Singh Rajput ‘s father had moved court wanting to stay the release of the film stating that it will be damaging for their family. So the court directed us to show them the film, which we did. The family is still adamant that it will damage them. The honorable judge told them to file for damages if they felt. We are ready to face the damages case.”
Saraogi also added that the film is based on the material in public domain.
Justice C Hari Shankar, while dismissing the plea filed by Sushant’s father, said that “to fasten a legal right, on something as fleeting as a celebrity, appears to be an oxymoron”.
Sushant Singh Rajput died allegedly by suicide in June 2020. His last movie Dil Bechara was released posthumously on an OTT channel.
