Saiyami Kher took notes from Yuvraj Singh and his cancer battle for her role in ‘Ghoomer’ | Hindi Movie News

Saiyami Kher plays a cricketer in ‘Ghoomer‘ who loses her arm in an accident, right before she’s set to represent India. She then meets ex-cricketer played by Abhishek Bachchan, who coaches her and she plays again for the Women’s Indian cricket team.

While Saiyami had to physically prepare for her role, even mentally, she had to get into the zone of the character. The actress said that she met cricketer Yuvraj Singhand took inspiration from his battle with Cancer to mentally get into the zone of her character.

Saiyami said that, ‘Ghoomer’ is a film about triumph. And Yuvraj’s career has been inspiring. His story has inspired Saiyami and many others because he battled cancer at the peak of his career and came back from there.
Yuvraj underwent a treatment in the US in 2012 and soon, he was back representing the Indian team at the 2012 ICC World Cup T20 Championship.
Hence, she spent some time with Yuvraj before playing the character and to get into the psyche of an athlete. The actress added that she’s resonated with sportsmanship at a very personal level but to understand this trauma and what it could do to deter someone’s spirit, it was not easy. Hence, she had to get into a certain emotional zone.
The film directed by R Balki, is set to release today and it also stars Shabana Azmi alongside Saiyami and Abhishek. The early reviews of ‘Ghoomer’ have started pouring in and the film is getting some great response so far.
