Ranveer Singh turns fanboy of wife Deepika Padukone as Chennai Express completes 10 years, also points out she played Leela and Naina in the same year | Hindi Movie News

Chennai Express still remains one of the best known films of Deepika Padukone. In the romantic comedy, the actress played a Tamilian girl who is on the run from her gangster father, as he wants her to get married to another gangster. To mark 10 years of the blockbuster, the actress shared a throwback video with actor-husband Ranveer Singh.

In the video, Ranveer can be seen reprising Shah Rukh Khan’s lines from the film, while Deepika is playing her character Meenamma.Ranveer playfully recites SRK’s famous line, “Aee Meenamma, meri dictionary mein ‘impossible’ shabd he nahi hain,” to which Deepika responds in the character’s signature accent, “Aacha. Kaha se kharede ye bakwaas dictionary?.” The video seems to be from the time when the couple were promoting their film Bajirao Mastani, as Ranveer can be seen with a moustache and shaved head.
Commenting on the video, Ranveer Singh wrote , “ THANGABALi !!!!!!!!!!!!

hahaha! Cult stuff !

Simply one of the best comedic performance ever! I was flabbergasted when I saw you as Meenamma! Owned the character and aced the genre! Same year as Naina and Leela! The range

Sharing the video Deepika wrote, “They say that comedy is the most difficult genre for an actor. So when I was offered Chennai Express, I knew I had a daunting challenge ahead of me. And while it took me a little while to find Meenama, a process that is extremely lonely and often times frightening, I’m grateful that we were able to create a character that is not only synonymous with the movie, but also one that continues to receive an abundance of love till this date.”
