The film’s domestic total now takes Gadar 2’s total domestic nett collection to Rs 263.48 crore.
While the film is still in its first week, it has already become the second-highest domestic grosser of the year, after Shah Rukh Khan‘s Pathaan. The film has already crossed the lifetime collections of The Kerala Story which earned an estimated Rs 242.20 crore.
The Shah Rukh Khan action flick currently sits on the number one spot with a total domestic collection of Rs 543.05 crore.
Gadar 2, directed by Anil Sharma, is reportedly on-course to becoming the highest nett grosser of all time thanks to its collections on its first Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday collections. The earnings have set it up to for a huge Rs 500 crore collection, if not higher.
The film is a sequel to Deol’s 2001 blockbuster ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’. The actor reprised his iconic role of Tara Singh in the film. In a press note, the makers said Gadar 2 has shattered “records and emerged as an unprecedented cinematic triumph, setting a new benchmark” in Indian cinema.
On the Independence Day holiday, the film amassed the highest collections in the past two decades, they claimed.
Set in 1971, the film follows Tara Singh’s journey to Pakistan to rescue his son, Charanjeet Singh from the Pakistani Army. The original was set during the Partition.
