According to the latest reports on boxofficeindia.com, the film has been declared as a ‘blockbuster hit’ after it earned an estimated Rs 41.50 crore nett (Rs 43.08 crore gross) took its overall collection to an estimated Rs 80.50 crore nett (Rs 83.18 crore gross).
The film made a splash on its opening day with a collection of Rs 39 crore nett (Rs 40 crore gross), recording the second highest earning film at the box office this year. The film sees Deol reprising his role of the iconic character Tara Singh after almost two decades.
Directed by Anil Sharma, who also worked on the 2001 original ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’, the film is expected to continue raking in the big bucks on Sunday, to record a smashing weekend collection that surpasses the Rs 100 crore mark.
The movie also features Ameesha Patel returning as Sakeena and Ukarsh Sharma as Charanjeet.
‘Gadar 2’ is set in 1971 and follows Tara Singh’s journey to Pakistan to rescue his son, Charanjeet Singh from the Pakistani Army. The original was set during the Partition.
