CBFC orders 25 changes in OMG 2, gives A certificate | Hindi Movie News

Over the past few days Akshay Kumar starrer ‘OMG 2’ has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. The Central Board of Film Certification has become extra sensitive about certifying films after the backlash it faced over Adipurush and Oppenheimer controversy. ‘OMG 2’ was sent to the Censor Board’s revising committee and chairperson Prasoon Joshi also watched the film.
After all this reviewing, it is being reported that ‘OMG 2’ has been given an A certificate without any cuts. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam in the lead.
Pinkvilla reported that after much discussion with the board, the makers have made about 25 modifications with regards to scenes, dialogues and characters. The makers were reportedly arguing for a U/A certificate with the CBFC but the Revising Committee had asked for a lot of cuts for the same. The makers felt this would alter the narrative and hence they went ahead with an ‘ Adults Only’ certificate.
Given the censor situation it was being said that the film won’t be able to meet its release date of August 11 and will be postponed. But now, the team is gearing up for a very aggressive marketing campaign and the trailer which received UA certificate should be released in a couple of days.
The film also ran into another controversy when a priest from Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar temple demanded deletion of certain scenes that were filmed in the shrine premises. He stated that the film might offend religious sentiments of the viewers and if their demands aren’t met, they will launch protests across the country.
