BR Ambedkar’s grandson Prakash Ambedkar lauds Radhika Apte’s Buddhist wedding in Made in Heaven 2, director Neeraj Ghaywan expresses gratitude

The internet has been raving about the Buddhist wedding featuring Radhika Apte at the end of director Neeraj Ghaywan‘s episode in Made in Heaven 2. And now Dr. BR Ambedkar’s grandson and Dalit activist Prakash Ambedkar has lauded this particular scene in the Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti-created show.

Ambedkar shared two pictures on his Twitter handle – one which shows Radhika’s character Pallavi saying, ‘Everything is about the politics’ and the other one which showcases the Buddhist wedding with a Buddha and a BR Ambedkar portrait in the frame.

“I absolutely loved the assertion, defiance and resistance of the Dalit woman character — Pallavi. For those Vanchits and Bahujans who have watched the episode — Assert your identity and only then you gain political prominence. As Pallavi puts it, ‘Everything is about the politics.’ Jai Bhim!” he tweeted.

Neeraj, who has directed the 5th episode of Made in Heaven 2 titled The Heart Skipped a Beat, expressed his gratitude to Ambedkar for his words of praise. “This is everything! Thank you so much, sir!” he wrote.

The episode features Radhika as Pallavi Menke, an Ivy League lawyer, who is outspoken about her caste identity and wants to be treated as an equal. She suggests her fiancee that they should marry in a Dalit-Buddhist wedding.
Previously, Neeraj has portrayed Dalit characters in Masaan starring Vicky Kaushal, Shweta Tripathi and Richa Chadha and explored the same in the anthology Ajeeb Daastaans starring Konkona Sensharma and Aditi Rao Hydari.
