Ameesha Patel feels her film ‘Yeh Hai Jalwa’ failed due to media’s obsession with Salman Khan’s hit-and-run-case | Hindi Movie News

Ameesha Patel, who is riding high on the super success of her latest film, ‘Gadar 2‘, recently spoke about the debacle of her 2002 film, ‘Yeh Hai Jalwa’. Directed by David Dhawan, the film also starred Salman Khan in the lead.
Talking about the same, Ameesha said that ‘Yeh Hai Jalwa’ was one of David Dhawan’s best films. According to her, Salman has never looked more handsome and the music of the film was also good. However, she feels that the film did not get the right attention due to the frenzy around Salman Khan’s hit-and-run case in the same year. Had the audience been open to it…that is one film that would have done really well, she toldBollywood Hungama in an interview.

‘Yeh Hai Jalwa was released months before Salman was arrested for rash and negligent driving after his car ran into a bakery in Mumbai. The incident reportedly killed one who was sleeping on the pavement outside the bakery while three others were injured. Initially, charges of culpable homicide were laid against the actor. However, later it was dropped.

In the same interview, Ameesha named another film which couldn’t work despite high hopes and that was none other than ‘Zameer’ with Ajay Devgn where the actor played the role of her professor. The film was a remake of a Tamil film, which was a National Award-winning film.
However, unfortunately, the producer passed away when the film was about to be released. So according to her, it couldn’t get to the audience correctly, the way it would have if the producer had been alive. The actress also added that she didn’t think the Aamir Khan starrer ‘Mangal Panday’ needed to be written off so badly the way they wrote it off.
Meanwhile, ‘Gadar 2’ is making a record-breaking collection at the box office. The film also starred Sunny Deol and Utkarsh Sharma in lead roles.
