Vidya Balan’s journey in movies has been a tale of the legends, she bagged her first film opposite Mohanlaland soon she was signed for 12 more movies. But due to certain issues, Vidya’s collaboration with Mohanlal was shelved. Back then, such a thing happening with Mohanlal’s film was unheard of and the actress was labeled bad luck and replaced in all her films.
Finally, Vidya debuted in films with Pradeep Sarkar’s Parineeta. An unknown trivia about the film is that producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra had Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in his mind when he thought about the lead actress in Parineeta. Speaking about it in an interview, the filmmaker said that the female character is such that two men have fallen in love with her, so the film needed a big actress. But Pradeep Sarkar had Vidya in his mind, but he was not completely confident about the casting. Pradeep Sarkar made Vidya undergo a series of auditions and only after he was satisfied, did he offer her the role. The actress had to give as many as 60 auditions to finally seal the deal.
Parineeta was a huge success and Vidya swept all debutant awards that year. Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Vidya went on to work together in Lage Raho Munna Bhai and Eklavya: The Royal Guard.
