Aamir Khan reacts to Nitin Desai’s death and the low celebrity turn out at the art director’s funeral today | Hindi Movie News

Renowned art director Nitin Chandrakant Desai passed away on Wednesday due to suicide. His funeral was held this afternoon at ND Studios in Karjat. Aamir Khan, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Madhur Bhandarkar and Sonali Kulkarni were among celebs who attended his funeral.

Desai is largely known for his work in Aamir Khan starrer ‘Lagaan‘, ‘Jodha Akbar’ amidst other movies and Aamir remembered him fondly as he spoke to the press after Desai’s last rites.

Aamir felt said and wished that he had reached out to anyone for help. The actor said, “This is very shocking news. I am unable to understand how did this happen. I can’t believe it. I wish he did not do this and reached out for help instead. But what can we say in such a tragic situation, it is very difficult to understand what has happened. It is very sad…We have lost someone who was very talented.”
Aamir who was last seen in ‘Laal Singh Chadha’ was surrounded by reporters post the funeral who also asked him why one didn’t see more celebs to pay their last respects to him. Aamir reacted and said, that people may not have showed up due to some or the other reason but he’s sure that, “Desai has a special place in everyone’s heart.” Khan offered heartfelt condolences to his family.
Nitin Desai has won three National awards for best art direction – for Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Lagaan and Devdas.
